Europæus norvegicus means a Norwegian European. In this blog I am commenting on topical and not-so-topical issues from my personal, European-Norwegian point of view. I will write in Norwegian when my primary audience is Norwegian and in English on themes of wider European or international interest.

The author, Tore Nedrebø, was born in 1957 in Voss, Norway. I have a doctoral degree in comparative politics from the University of Bergen and I worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oslo from 1986 to 2021.  I was posted to Prague 1988-90, Bonn 1990-1994, was head of the Ministry’s European Policy Section 20001-2005, was posted to Abuja (Nigeria) as ambassador 2005-2009. After that I worked in the Ministry’s International Development Section, until 1 January 2013 when I took over a new position as coordinator of research. From September 2015 to August 2018, I was Norway’s ambassador to Pakistan, residing in Islamabad. Then I spent three years in the Foreign Ministry again, dealing mainly with Germany in the Department for Europe, before retiring in July 2021.
